Weekend Preview

Movies

A movie with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe!?! How can you go wrong? The ONLY thing I hope is that the performances don't remind me too much of Denzel in Training Day and Crowe in L.A. Confidential. Other than that concern this movie is going to have a great opening weekend, probably finishing first.

Seriously, this Movie is going to suck. The only way you can watch this movie is if you take your kids; even still, you should "go to the bathroom" and slip into American Gangster just for a glimpse of what you aren't getting at Bee Movie. Do you want to go see a movie about a bee who sues humankind for stealing honey? I will be glad that the epic Bee Movie commercials will stop. Has anyone else felt like there has been a bombardment of Jerry Seinfield on NBC?

Plot synopsis courtesy of Imdb: John Cusack stars as David Gordon, a recently widowed science fiction writer who forms an unlikely friendship with a young boy named Dennis . Dennis is a shy and reticent kid who claims to be from Mars and awaits the time when his fellow aliens will come back to Earth to retrieve him. Sounds sappy as hell. Pass on this one.
Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, Sidney Lumet directing. It's about 2 brothers robbing their parents. Sounds messed up, but good.

Music
Wilco on Austin City Limits (Sat. at Midnight) - One of the best bands in the world takes the stage for live performance. If your face hasn't been melted by Nels Cline's guitar solos, you haven't lived. Wilco is touring in support of their latest album, Sky Blue Sky.

College Football
Wisconsin at Ohio State - Can Wisconsin take out #1 Ohio State? God I hope so. A Big Ten team in the BCS title game would ruin all the fun.

Michigan at Michigan State

Arizona State at Oregon

South Carolina at Arkansas

Florida State at Boston College

NBA (Friday night)
Wizards at Celtics (Gilbert Arenas predicts Wiz are going to stomp the Celts)

Lakers at Suns (Phoenix possible Kobe destination)

Knicks at Cavaliers (Isiah's debut after sexual harassment suit)

Mavs at Hawks

NFL (Rivalry Weekend)
Pats at Colts - I didn't realize THEY were playing!

Cowboys at Eagles

Packers at Chiefs - Wow, the rivalry from Super Bowl I. The only person who cares is the old whore who tried to imbezzle Bart Starr's money.

PGA Tour
The last event of the Fall Series has finally arrived and still no one cares. They are playing the Walt Disney World Classic or, as it is known in this time of corporate sponsors, The Children's Miracle Network Classic presented by WalMart. There are a few relatively big names here this week, but only because they can take their kids to Disney World. It is on all weekend long on the Golf Channel and XM Radio channel 146.
